Mobile gaming goliath Supercell is poised to release its first new App Store offering since the chart-dominating hit Clash of Clans. It's called Boom Beach, and it's due to hit the App Store on March 27th.

The game has been available in soft-launch form in Canada for a number of weeks now, so we have a pretty good handle on what it's all about. And yes, as you would expect, it has more than a few things in common with Clash of Clans.

You take control of a band of soldiers who must land on a beach, and fortify it. You'll need to create barracks to raise an army, and build tanks and other military equipment to defend your position.

Once you've established your own stronghold, you can set about invading your neighbours' bases. These are located on nearby islands, so you'll need to load your troops onto transports and attack by sea if you want to expand your territory.

We'll have video footage of Boom Beach live on the site as soon as the final version is released. We'll also be streaming the game via the AppSpy Twitch channel tomorrow as part of our weekly Eye on the App Store show. Tune in live at 5pm GMT / 10am PDT to see it in action.
