Hit anime Evangelion inspires Unison League’s new update

By , on August 15, 2016

Unison League was released onto mobile platforms last year, and has been keeping players busy since with its blend of RPG and real-time battling. You create and customise your very own hero, forge a guild with other players and take on monsters in fierce fights around the troubled land of Granvia.

Now there’s fresh content to get RPG and anime fans excited – a crossover with Evangelion. The anime franchise took Japan by storm in the 90s, and the recent Rebuild Evangelion films have kept the passion alive. Unison League and Evangelion may seem like unlikely bedfellows, but both have a quintessential Japanese aesthetic, and include a band of heroes taking on monsters to save humanity. So not quite as jarring as, say, a crossover between Goat Simulator and DayZ (that happened).

The latest update introduces a whole new plot set to develop over two weeks, with chances to unlock items as the story unfolds. Those items include a ton of new cosmetics to kit your hero out in Evangelion style – so you can imagine you’re taking on the terrifying Angels as protagonists Shinji, Asuka and Rei. Or get a mecha-makeover and equip the Unit 01 and 02 cosmetics.

Plus there are plenty of new attack animations to make defeating the Granvian baddies a little sweeter. And a log-in bonus in the form of Rei Ayanami adorned in a cheeky speed queen out fit. Not bad, eh?
Unison League is free to download from the App Store and Google Play.
