Slap down the beat, turn up the music and scratch your way to DJ-Stardom with Hip Hop All Star. Starting off as an amateur DJ, the player must scratch and cut their way through each level battling other rival DJs on the way to fulfil their hopes of becoming the next DJ superstar.

The controls are very suitable for this style of game. Players must tap their finger on the correct notes as the record spins and hold their finger down on the screen for long notes. Although this sounds like it all might be a little too easy, once the player advances further into the game the player will need to be able to multi tap quickly as many of the notes will start to become connected with one another creating a fun challenge for players. There is also a scratch meter displayed on screen which once powered up will enable the player to go into “scratch mode” where the player can earn bonus points by running their finger around the record player to scratch the track. Multi-player is also enabled on this game and players can battle their friends over a wi-fi or bluetooth connection.

The visual effects for this game are rather pleasing and although they are very colourful they are not distracting for the player. The sound effects and sound track for this game are excellent and compliment the overall feel for the game very well.

This game is recommended for anyone who is already a fan of the Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution series and enjoys hip hop music. It is suitable for all ages.
