Platformers have had a rough time on the iphone. A touch directional pad or analogue stick does not give the same fidelity as its real life counterpart. Chop Chop Ninja has decided to create a control scheme made for the iphone that allows jumping and attacking at the touch of a finger. The emporer's daughter has been cursed, and it is up to you to find the ingredients needed to save her!

Everything in this game is touch based. Tapping the sides of the screen will move the ninja, tapping the air will make him jump, and tapping on or behind an enemy will attack them. At the start, the controls seem haphazard, where wildly tapping might get you through, but you feel like you have no control. After a couple levels however, you begin to get the hang of things and enjoy how easy it is to wall jump and kick an enemy in their face.

The cartoon based art style is both cute and expressive. The backgrounds and animations have a lot of detail and the game looks gorgeous as a result. The sound is a mixed bag, with simple japanese themed music and basic sound effects. The game features ten levels, with hidden objects to collect, and plenty of special attacks to keep momentum going.

While some more variation in attacks would have been nice, the well thought out new platformer control scheme combined with the art, make this game worth a look. At least give the lite version a play.
