M. C. Escher is certainly one of the most easily recognizable artists of the 20th century thanks to his mathematically inspired, mind-bending images and in particular his pattern artwork is more than impressive. Circull by Tonic Games makes use of these Escher-like hyperbolic geometric patterns to create a three-match game that is visually impressive and a challenge to master.

Thankfully the game has a relaxed tone, removing timers and other similar pressure based challenges that would make searching through the various patterns harder than it already is. Dragging your finger around the screen will slide around the pattern, zooming in with a fish eye lens like perspective to allow the pattern to stretch out seemingly forever. Colored tiles can be swapped to create matches of three or more, scoring points and multipliers for subsequent or larger matches, while bonus tiles can clear large sections of the screen to remove mismatched tiles in the middle of the area.

The game features high-resolution options for those with newer iDevices, however the game looks fantastic thanks to its clean interface that doesn't try to add to the already confusing visuals players have to put up with. The color shades are also subdued, though this does present some problems when different shades of the same color sit next to each other while playing on a dimmed screen.

Still, as three-match titles go Circull may not add anything terribly new in terms of gameplay, but its visual style is amazing and makes for a great no-pressure title that can easily waste those spare minutes of your day.
