CONNECT 4 Review

Remember the days when games required you to think outside of the box? A simpler time in gaming where you had to outthink your opponent and plan a cunning strategy to secure a win. Well for those who are might enjoy a trip down memory lane, Connect 4 will be your tour guide. The classic Milton Bradley board game is now available for purchase on the iPhone.

Your goal is still the same as it always was; be the first player to line up a row of four dots on the game board and block any of your opponent’s attempts at a win. By tapping on a column of your choice, you’ll drop a piece. It’s pretty self explanatory considering the simplicity of the game.

The game’s 3D visuals brighten the gameplay a bit, as does the games soundtrack and ‘clink’ sound effects of dropping chips. Players are also given the option to use their iPod during gameplay. There are a number of modes including various challenges and variations of the classic gameplay, all of which can be played in the game’s multiplayer modes.

Connect 4 is pretty much what you expect it to be but the addition of the new modes is certainly welcomed. Much like the board game, this is one that anyone can play and enjoy. If you’re a fan of the original game and are feeling a little old school, then you might want to give Connect 4 a go and see what falls into place.
