Rummage Review

Rummage is a word based puzzle game where players must try to hunt for different words in a mix of letters by swapping and lining them up. Players must try to spell all the words they are given in a list as fast as they can for the highscore. You will be awarded higher points and multipliers based on the size of the words and how many moves you used to spell out the word.

Players shift letters by tapping on them and selecting where to move them. Letters can only be moved and spelled out horizontally or vertically. Once letters are lined up to spell a word, players must tap the spell button in the corner and tap each letter in sequence to spell it. You will have to calculate your letter movement carefully as you must adhere to a move limit; if all moves are used and no words are spelt, then its game over.

The visuals and sound are basic but expected from a spelling puzzle game. Players do have the option to use their iPod during gameplay but must mute all sounds first. The game consists of one main game mode and a tutorial mode which you’ll need to play through to grasp the game.

Rummage is one of those casual, self challenge puzzle titles. While the game does have access to OpenFeint and various online features, it’s definitely not a competitive game. The gameplay can get quite fun when you’re on a roll but the game does have a moderate learning curve and can take some time to get used to.
