Toy Bot Diaries follows the exploits of a small toy robot as he must try and make his way out of the toy vending machine he’s stuck in and embark on a wonderful journey. Using your grappling hook arm and magnetic boots you’ll work your way through the machine, solving puzzles and clearing obstacles along your way.

Players control Toy Bot’s movement by tilting their iPhone back and forth, but since you can’t jump you’ll need to use your grappling hook to climb it up platforms or across gaps. By tapping on a magnetic section of the level, you’ll be able to grapple onto it and pull yourself up or swing towards a new area.

The cartoony visuals work well against the 2D old school platformer style levels. The sound features some nice sound effects and music but is all a bit simple; and doesn’t give players any iPod access. There is one main story mode to play through but players are free to repeat levels or chapters in order to try and collect Toy Bot’s scattered memory fragments.

Toy Bot Diaries is an enjoyable and accessible title that presents players with some deceptively complex puzzles to solve. You might have some grief when to trying to combine the tilt control scheme along with your grappling hook and magnetic boots, but this is a minor issue. If you’re a fan of physics based puzzlers or platforming games, then Toy Bot Diaries will certainly leave you with an enjoyable gameplay experience.

Toy Bot Diaries

If you enjoy the challenge of physics based puzzles in a platforming scenario, then Toy Bot Diaries is well worth a look at.
