Tumblebugs is a gem matching puzzle game with a twist. Instead of matching coloured gems on a board, you will have to fire coloured bugs into a moving line of bugs to free them. You play as Tumble as she tries to free her bug friends by breaking up the marching chain by shooting bugs of the same colour in to it.
You fire bugs by tapping on the screen in the direction you want to shoot. Like with most gem puzzle games you will need to match up three or more bugs of the same colour in order to clear them from the game. There are different special bugs that players will need to clear from the level in order to get various bonuses.
The game’s visuals are crisp and vibrant. The game's sound is quite good but players are free to use their iPod during gameplay. The game features one main story mode but this consists of about ten levels, each with five game rounds. The game is single player only but players are free to post level highscores to Facebook.
Tumblebugs is a quirky gem matching puzzle game and one that fans of the genre will enjoy. The gameplay is simple but gives players room for improvement. The controls are easy to use and the content is accessible to younger players. Some players may find the game a bit too easy compared to some of the other puzzle games available but they will still have some fun playing through the different levels.
If you’re looking for a refreshing change from the usual gem matching puzzle games then Tumblebugs is worth a look at and well worth the current price.
