App Wrap Up (Week Ending 12th October 2012)

Hey hey folks! It's the end of the week, and even though it's been a little while, it's time for another installment of the App Wrap Up! As always we're gonna have a look at some games that may be interesting based on their trailers. Whether they're worth your time and money, well that's for you to decide! Now let's move onward!

Royal Revolt (flaregames GmbH)

We've seen the reverse Tower Defence game done before, but this has such a nice art style and what looks to be some interesting upgrades that i think fans of the genre should give it a look. It is a free app, so there could be limitations designed around in-app purchases. The question is whether they hinder enjoyment of the game or not

Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt King of Bucks (Outdoor Partners LLC)

While the arcades have been dead for a while, there are still a few around, and in most of them you will find Pro Buck Hunter or some version of a hunting game. Now most gamers would dismiss this, but i am here to tell you, play a round with some friends and then tell me that wasn't a fun experience. Now we have a version of the game for our iPhones and iPads. While it may not have the same feel, swapping the pump action plastic shotgun for your finger, it looks like the same game.

Light Breeze (benderlab.com)

Reflecting light off angled mirrors. This puzzle type is now a staple, but even though we've played these before, the design of the levels can still bring enjoyment. If you're looking for more refracting action, perhaps give this one a look.

Big Win Football (Hothead Games, Inc.)

Gridiron (American Football) is one of the few sports i enjoy watching, and while this trailer is a little misleading (i doubt commentary is a consistant part of the game experience), the small changes to real team and player names, and what looks to be management sim gameplay intrigues me. Especially as a mobile experience.

Plicplic (Nathan Malville)

This game has been on our radar for a little while, but the trailer has always just been those goofy birds, and no gameplay, so we've never given the game any press. Now with the update, we see some gameplay (still not enough for my liking personally), and it looks to be an interesting take on the 'how far can you get' game, this time moving upwards as you play an umbrella riding the winds. Could be an enjoyable little time waster.
