••• Exploring San Francisco's Chinatown •••

With its narrow alleys and bustling streets, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic place to explore. This app guides you to the top dim sum parlors, restaurants, bakeries, souvenir shops, traditional stores, festivals, temples and historic sites.

Included are dozens of photos, descriptions, maps, opening hours, price ranges, phone numbers and website links.

The app covers Chinatown's Grant Avenue, lined with colorful shops filled with souvenirs and merchandise, and the more authentic Stockton Street, whose markets are packed with a mind-boggling array of food and imported delicacies. At the center is historic Portsmouth Square where the declaration that of the gold discovery was first made, setting off the largest migration in human history.

In between are alleys and side streets that make up the densest urban neighborhood outside of New York City, an intriguing place to wander and soak up atmosphere: noisy mah jong parlors, brightly painted balconies, quiet incense-filled temples, herbal medicine shops and dozens of restaurants with diners elbow-to-elbow and carts piled high with dim sum dumplings.
