Description

Ogham is a form of early medieval writing used mainly to write the old irish language. Some scholars believe that each letter of the Ogham alphabet was used to represent a different tree and Ogham is therefore sometimes known as the Celtic Tree Alphabet.

Divination using Ogham symbols was mentioned in the Tochmarc Étain (The Wooing of Étain - one of the earliest texts of the Irish mythological cycle). A series of Ogham symbols were inscribed on sticks and then thrown into the air, where they land representing whether they represent the past, present or future.

You can now perform simple Ogham divination in a neopagan (or technopagan, if you wish) way by concentrating on a particular question or query and allowing fate to decide a random outcome of Ogham symbols.

Twenty Ogham symbols are used. You may examine a brief description of each one or simply perform your own divination at any time.
