Description

Each summer camp Tavor serves over 200 campers from all over the country. Most of our campers are from different communities in Michigan or the Chicago area. We offer programming for children entering 3rd-12th grades. Sessions lengths range from 5 days to 7 weeks. Campers entering 11th grade can travel to Israel with their peers who attended one of the seven different Habonim Dror Camps in North America. All of the Staff is over 18 and participates in a 10 day staff training seminar. Most of the Staff members grew up at Camp Tavor and really take pride in providing a meaningful summer experience to the campers.
At camp Tavor we serve Kosher food and use separate dishes for meat and dairy meals. Campers participate in a Tikkun Olam day where they go and help the local community. In the past, activities have included helping on community farms and helping in a good-will store. Campers also spend one night camping out in a state park. Camp Tavor is modeled after Kibbutz style living. Campers help out in the camp community each day and work in a group to either help prepare meals, help in the organic camp farm, or organize the facilities. At camp we offer swimming, boating, sports, arts and crafts. We have a music room complete with instruments and recording equipment. Campers also take part in Jewish Identity programs, Israel Education programs and creative activities.
