Description

Stirring the Swarm is a ceramic installation that tells a curiously dark tale written by ceramic artist Anna Collette Hunt about a Victorian collection of Entomology that has escaped after mysteriously reawakening.

The installation was unveiled in October 2011 at Nottingham Castle, England. Following this exhibition a smaller swarm was created for the touring exhibition Made in the Middle originated by Craftspace. This installation invites viewers to experience a new perspective of the artist’s story, where they step into the shoes of a baffled Entomologist who is documenting the phenomenon that has occurred. The Entomologist has been chasing the swarm for several months now, capturing specimens to study and experiment with. Her actions were not unnoticed by the enchanted swarm who have come to seek revenge. The exhibit is accompanied by this Application which was commissioned by Craftspace for Made in the Middle.
