Description

The B777 EFATO (Engine failure after takeoff) App was made by pilots for pilots, with primary goal to assist and improve the awareness amongst flight crew when dealing with such emergencies. The real time visual representation of this event should benefit all pilots who are actively flying the B777 and any other Boing NG aircraft or undergoing training and also, it might serve as a refresher tool for upcoming simulator checks. This App should benefit ATC as well, taking them on the other side of the radio, providing them with an insight of the cockpit and its crew when dealing with an emergency during the takeoff.

The main feature, the EFATO Animation within the App presents the opportunity to focus on the various events which occur during a takeoff following an engine failure, including but not limited to technical events, instrument indications and time and task management consistent with the conditions.

When dealing with emergencies, the stress always plays its part where the time as a factor suffers the most. When looking backward, the time always seems faded or gone, passes fast or slow, somehow undefined. The misperception of time when the crews are facing stressful situations is the primary reason for our approach to this type of development. As with this App, at 3dcockpit, we recreate scenarios to match real-time ones, with high detail and quality where the viewers can gain better understanding of this missing link, thus improving situational awareness and overall safety.

The information provided in this App is for professional pilots who are actively flying or undergoing training. The core information is provided in visual format as animated videos, made relying on experience and knowledge and it serves as a presentation of performance and an example how such event might be managed. It is the flight crews themselves who must be familiar and act in accordance with their operator procedures and respective aircraft manuals. Where stated, the additional information provided in textual form is there to supplement the animations and provide brief description of some of the factors influencing those situations.
