Description

Established in 1834, the City of Marietta was a vibrant antebellum city and suffered greatly during the Civl War. The culmination of the War’s effect on the city came in the summer of 1864 as the Union Army commanded by General Sherman made their way to Atlanta and then onto Savannah in the March to the Sea. Many local homes were used as headquarters by commanding generals, churches were tuned into hospitals and the cemeteries were filled with the casualties of battles at Kennesaw Mountain and Cheatham Hill. Download this app for a voice narrated, guided tour of Marietta’s Cannonball Trail. Stops include: Cheatham Hill and the Illinois Monument, Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park, Kolb’s Farm, The Marietta Confederate Cemetery and many antebellum homes!
This mobile app is brought to you by the Marietta Visitors Center and features voice narration, historical photos, GPS mapping and intriguing stories of Marietta and the Civil War.
