The Body Parts ESL app teaches 28 English words that students need to know about the parts of the human body.
“The head” teaches six words for parts of the head: the ear, the eye, the eyebrow, the hair, the head and the nose. Some of those words might have been included in “the face” group. “The face” presents six more words: the face, the forehead, the lips, the mouth, the teeth and the tongue. Students may find it difficult to distinguish between the graphics for mouth, lips and teeth. “The body” teaches the words for the back, the body, the neck, the shoulder and the tummy. The group called “The arm and the hand” includes the arm, the elbow, the finger, the hand, the thumb and the wrist. The group called “The leg and the foot” teaches the words for the ankle, the foot, the knee, the leg and the toe.
Of course there are many other words to be learned about parts of the body. Ask a member of your community if you need to know a particular word, or use a translation program on the internet to find the English word.
This suite of eight user-friendly apps is intended to introduce vocabulary to students who are learning English.
In all activities in each app, students will see a graphic, read the English word, and hear the word spoken by an accomplished teacher. Students are invited to participate in four activities:"Let's learn" (words are repeated with ample time for the student to practice saying them); "Let's practice" (a drag and drop activity matching printed words with pictures); "Let's play" (a game in which students match graphics and sound); and "Quiz" (students must choose the correct picture for a written and spoken word). Even young students who do not yet read will be able to use all activities because the sound is always attached to graphics and word boxes.
