Description
The Renoir Father and Son. Painting and Cinema exhibition at the Musée d’Orsay invites you to discover the emotional and artistic relationship that united the master of impressionism Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and his son Jean, film-maker. Built around six different sections, the visit brings extracts of Jean’s films face to face with his father’s pictorial production, highlighting in this way the aesthetic [and ideological/philosophical?] connections between the two men. Archive documents, film costumes, posters, photographs and ceramics underpin the overall theme of the exhibition, giving you a deeper insight into the historical context of both the film shoots and the intimate biography that Jean started writing of his father’s life in the early 1940s.
