Rendezvous with others during any frequency of travel, without oversharing your whereabouts or compromising privacy. The missing app for staying in touch with groups and contacts in different places, “until next time.”

Treetop never monitors GPS, and does not know your precise real-time location. The app detects travel (via airplane, car, and more) using the motion sensing features of your phone, without monitoring where you are. Instead, Treetop notifies you after you travel to share a more private, city-level location update for others using customizable text and emoji. Communications are kept private with end-to-end encryption, so that no one else (not even Treetop) can see the location updates that you share directly with the app.

■ SAY WHERE YOU'LL BE
Quickly and privately update your location for all or several groups and contacts at once to the current city, country, state/province, or local district that you are in, without revealing your actual precise location automatically or accidentally through a previous grant. On Treetop, you control who receives each update and when, and the level of detail included. For maximum privacy, location data is communicated using text (only) that you can adjust and preview, instead of with coordinates that could otherwise reveal more than you realize.

■ SEE WHO IS WHERE
Treetop clusters the shared locations of your groups and contacts on a browsable list and map, and lets others update their location for you from the app on their phone. You can receive notifications when the app is closed of who has shared an arrival in a new place or a return home, and more.

■ TRAVEL DETECTION WITHOUT GPS
Using built-in sensors on your device to recognize movement, Treetop notifies you to share updates after traveling significantly… via ground transportation (car, etc.), and even by airplane. For maximum privacy and to save battery power, Treetop does not monitor GPS or Location Services. All travel detection is done privately and locally on your device using motion only, and does not require internet or satellite connectivity.

■ COMMUNICATE PRIVATELY + OWN YOUR DATA
Communications between users are end-to-end encrypted. Only you and the people you share with (and nobody in between, not even Treetop) can view location updates shared through the app. And, Treetop is designed to protect your data from being collected and sold by keeping it locally in the app, so that it is backed up by your device (and to iCloud with encryption, when enabled) and you remain in control of it. Treetop's network keeps you connected with others securely, and gives you a username… that's it.

■ REDUCES STRESS
Treetop helps even your most distant connections stay a part of your life by surfacing moments to see others again, instead of missing them. Everyone is in motion, and travel creates new opportunities to share updates, react with emoji, and spend time with them. Without technology, it can otherwise be difficult to stay in touch and coordinate based on who is where, and when.

To support your wellness through movement and connection with others at ever-changing distances and proximities, with your permission, Treetop integrates with your Health data (specifically only walking steps and footing-related metrics, which are collected by your phone automatically and viewable in the Health app on iOS) to provide interactions and a deeper view of statistics surrounding how you have transited based on your movement. This data cannot be modified by the app, and is securely processed on-device locally (only) without being shared or transmitted. (It is not sent to the internet by the app, ever. Not even to Treetop.)
