Ngmoco Roll Out Updates To Rolando and Rolando 2

In many respects, ngmoco’s platforming puzzler Rolando was the iPhone title that validated Apple’s mobile as a viable gaming platform. Inspired to some extent - certainly aesthetically - by LocoRoco on PSP, Rolando rolled onto iPhone in December 2008, complete with jaunty music supplied by Brit DJ Mr Scruff. Whether seduced by Mikko Walamies’s artwork, THAT infuriatingly catchy soundtrack, or the simple swipe-y control mechanism, players weren’t likely to forget the inhabitants of Rolandoland very quickly once installed. Well, the original and its 2.5D-favouring successor Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid are now on sale for 59p, so grab 'em while they're cheap. Even better,…

Gameloft Tease FPS Sequel N.O.V.A: Elite On Facebook

Facebook means many things to many people: For some, it’s a way of keeping up to date with the lives of distant relatives. For others, it’s an excuse to stalk ex-lovers. For video game developers, though, Zuckerberg’s social network is most commonly used as a marketing channel. And Gameloft’s Facebook page is one of the more vibrant and fertile, the company often engaging their community to perform shameless acts of shilling. See Exhibit A for proof. In celebration of acquiring 300,000 Facebook ‘Fans’, the French publishers have released a teaser image for the next iteration in the N.O.V.A. series, subtitled Elite. Don’t get too excited, mind. It’s only a bit of artwor…

A Moon For The Sky Goes Free For Unspecified Time

At the dawn of the millennium, the world of Astrolunia is thrown out of kilter when its Moon begins to wither. Luckily for all concerned, a new moon is harvested relatively quickly, leaving you with the onerous task of bouncing the orb safely into orbit. Draw a line under your celestial body and watch it rebound past obstacles galore, collecting stars and earning achievements in the process. Well, that’s the theory. Should the 18-level campaign prove an insufficient test, A Moon For The Sky’s endless mode will keep you entertained for...ever, we guess.…

Flick Golf Updated With 5 Extra Courses

Though it shares the same basic principles as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12, namely shoot your ball as close to the pin as possible, Flick Golf substitutes EA’s realistic approach with a healthy dollop of fun. Full Fat’s addictive flick-based action has now been updated, with five extra courses and an additional gameplay mode (Quickshot Pro) the standout features. For those rocking iOS 4.1 or higher, Game Center support brings 15 fresh achievements to get your teeth into. And for everyone else, OpenFeint integration takes care of community-based scores and leaderboards. Welcome tweaks to the UI and improvements to the framerate and collision detection make what was already an enjoyable ro…

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 Lands On App Store Fairway

Having rebuilt his personal and professional life after news of his infidelities broke in late 2009, Tiger Woods furthers the rehabilitation process by launching the next iteration of his popular golfing sim on iOS. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 landed on the App Store green overnight, retailing for $6.99 on iPhone. A HD iPad version should emerge from EA’s rough over the next few days, presumably priced at $9.99. In this edition of the long-established franchise, golfers can tee off from eight real-world courses, from St Andrews to Pebble Beach, and step into the metal spiked shoes of Paul Casey and Tiger himself. Facebook integration allows friends to compare their closest to the pin effort…
