I've never really understood the whole Indiana Jones / exploration of ancient deadly temples thing - I mean half the time you either die to some undead creature, curse or trap and almost every other time you unleash some nightmare on the world that was sealed away for a reason. Oh well, it seems that in Damian Filigree: the Book of Thoth by Bloomsix you'll need to sprint your way through subterranean corridors, avoiding traps and solving puzzles in order to escape a Mummy that's guarding an ancient artifact.

And surprise, surprise you'll need to solve three-match puzzles to do so, but thankfully there's a twist on the standby puzzle that keeps things interesting, at least for a little while. Matching three or more symbols will clear them out, helping you to move further along the corridor, however you're presented with a row of tiles that will reverse an entire length of tiles depending on how far you tap. Once you've wrapped your head around the basics this becomes incredibly easy to pull off, though later on the real challenge comes from identifying the three matchable tiles amongst the mix on your screen.

The tiles themselves take up most of the screen, which leaves little room for the animated visuals below and this is a shame because watching Filigree as he dodges traps or the Mummy as it lumbers around is quite amusing.

Damian Filigree: the Book of Thoth tries something different and with a bit more variety in the gameplay it could definitely keep you coming back. As it is the game is fun for a short while, but even arcade puzzle fans may tire of it too soon.
