Pokemon GO is having a Halloween event, here are some other events it should have

By , on October 25, 2016

Pokemon GO is having its first event. And as you might expect it’s themed around Halloween. Everyone loves Halloween nowadays. It wasn’t like that in the past, but I bet none of you really care about the past so I’m not going to dwell on it.

Anyway, the event will see you getting more candy, and change the regularity with which different spooky Pokemon will appear in-game. It’s a pretty cool idea, and a great way to pull players back into the game.

You can watch the trailer for the Halloween content just below this paragraph. But don’t go running away once you’ve finished with it because there’s even more excellent content coming up after the video.

While this might be the first bit of in-game content for Pokemon GO, it got me thinking about what other events I’d like to see in the game. So I decided to make this brief list so that you could read it and wonder where my life went so horribly wrong.

Christmas

What’s better than being with your family over Christmas? Not being with your family over Christmas, obviously. And what better excuse to leave the house than an overwhelming, almost all-consuming, desire to catch them all.

In my head this update would just put santa hats on all of the Pokemon. Let’s all just take a moment and think about Pikachu in a santa hat. How adorable would that be? Even the dank pit in my chest where a heart used to be might have some reaction to that.

Birthdays

I’m pretty sure Pokemon GO knows when your birthday is. I mean it knows where you are at all times so it’s not too creepy to imagine that it knows when you were born, who your parents are, and what your deepest darkest secrets are.

So give players some cake on their birthday. In-game cake that they have to find, but cake full of rewards like special Poke-balls and other goodies. And offer other players bigger rewards for beating you on your birthday. Because there’s nothing better than ruining someone’s special day.

Location-based events

Pokemon GO is a location based game, so why can’t it have location based events? Maybe shops or public places could become special Poke-zones for a day, and you’d get cool stuff for turning up and winning battles. Like hats. Basically I want all Pokemon to wear silly hats.

I mean it’s unlikely that any of the places I frequent are going to get involved, but you might go to places where you’re not so likely to get stabbed. I wish I lived somewhere nice. Can I come and live with you? We could play Pokemon GO all the time and I’d make sure I was really quiet when I was having my afternoon cry.
