How do you know when a mobile game is doing well? Is it when it gets a spot during the Superbowl adverts? Is it when you see adverts for it before big film releases like Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Nah, it’s none of them. It’s when it gets its own series of cartoons. Angry Birds did it, Where’s My Water did, even Cut the Rope did. And now it’s the turn of Clash of Clans. Eat your heart out Candy Crush game show.

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming cartoon, which is due to land in just 3 days time on December 9th. That’s not very long at all, in pretty much every measure of time.

Almost inevitably this got me thinking about other games it’d be cool to see getting turned into cartoons. So I’ve gone right ahead and written this here list so that you can see into what my brain did and go ooooooh he’s smart.

Who doesn’t want to see the adventures of an incredibly stretchy dog? No one, that’s who. Or at the very least no one that matters. I mean it’s already funny and nothing really happens.

I see Silly Sausage as a Stretch Armstrong for millennials. But better. And not as dude bro-y. And with a dog instead of a man. And a lot of meat.

If there’s one thing that Blizzard does well (there isn’t, there’s loads), then it’s making cinematics. Now imagine those but hand drawn and set in the taverns of Hearthstone. I’m surprised it doesn’t exist already.

Each episode could be a stand alone story that tells the tale of one of the characters playing the game. I think it’d be ace, and I’m usually right about things like this.

These would have to be short toons, but they’d cram a lot into their brief running time. A bunch of weird characters try and get across some roads, constantly hounded by obstacles and all those other things.

Smash in a few gags, keep the art style the same as the game and you’re basically on to a winner. Just sit back and let the cartoon money roll in.

This one would be less of a cartoon and more of a heartbreaking Ghibli-style movie that would probably be the best looking movie that the world has ever seen. Probably.

If it could even be 1/5th as haunting as the game then it’d be getting things really right. And I reckon I’d go to the cinema at least four times to go and see it. No snacks though. And not in 3D.
