Here's everything you need to know about Titanfall: Assault

By , on May 9, 2017

Titanfall: Assault is the second bite at the Titanfall mobile cherry. The second I hear you scream, but what was the first? Well that was Titanfall: Frontline, which got soft launched and then quietly cancelled. So yeah, second.

This time around there's a lot more action to sink your teeth into. Again, the game is only in soft launch at the moment, but I though it'd be sensible to give you a heads-up about what the game is, what you can expect from it, and how many titans there are in it (lots).

What is it?

Well it's a bit like Clash Royale. But it's also a bit like a tower defence game. But it's also a bit like a tower offence game. It's a base versus base scrap to the death with units and rockets and giant titans.

There are control points on the map too, and gun turrets, and it looks pretty shiny from the glimpse we've had of it so far. It's good to see a game that's taking the casual MOBA idea and actually running with it.

How many Titans?

Well the battles last four minutes, and at the moment the Titans turn up three minutes into the scrap. Before that you're throwing troops into the level, capturing and defending points and trying to earn a higher score than your foe.

You've got rockets too, which do huge damage if they hit something. And then there are turrets that you can use to create choke points. Like in Aliens, but hopefully more successfully.

There's an energy system like in Clash Royale, so you can't just spam things out. You need to think tactically and respond to your opponent's attacks.

When is it out?

Right now it's in soft launch in the Philippines. So what you've seen in the video above is very much a work in progress. Hopefully though this one has more of a chance of actually making it out into the wild.

We will of course let you know if and when the game lands over on Pocket Gamer. And probably write something either cynical or funny about it here on AppSpy. You're welcome.
