The best gifts for iPhone and iPad gamers this Christmas

It's the Monday before Christmas, which means you've still got a bit of time to go out and get the mobile gamer in your life some presents. Or order them off the internet. I don't know, there aren't any mobile gamers in my life to be honest.

Anyway, we thought it was as good a time as any to put together a guide to let you know some of the cool stuff out there that a mobile gamer might just appreciate. I mean, they might not, but don't hold it against us. There's a chance they're just the sort of person who doesn't appreciate getting gifts.

You can click on the names of the items below to get them from Amazon. Apart from the iTunes gift card, which you can't buy from Amazon. If you've got your own suggestions for what people might want to find in their stockings a week today, feel free to chuck them in the comments at the bottom of the article.

An iTunes gift card

Yeah it's not the most imaginative present, but you've googled what to buy a mobile gamer for Christmas, so it's not really my fault. You can grab gift cards in all manner of currencies and amounts, and it means you don't actually have to think about what the person receiving the gift likes. And since there have been plenty of amazing games that came out on the App Store this year, they're going to have a lot to spend their imaginary money on.

A stand

This might seem like a bit of a strange one, but if your beloved iPhone gamer uses a controller a lot, they might have to prop their phone up in weird ways to get the screen at the best angle. Get them a stand of some sort though, and those struggles are going to be a thing of the past. I'd go for a cool tripod, because tripods are cool and have plenty of other uses as well.

Gaming case

If the object of your purchasing likes mobile gaming, they probably like other types of gaming too. So get them a case that, when they pull their phone out of their pocket, will show everyone that they're a grade A nerd. Gamers of a retro bent will go bananas for this case in the shape of a ZX Spectrum. I mean, they might not, but they might.

A controller

There are plenty of iPhone and iPad compatible controllers out there. Some of them are good, some of them are bad, but most of them are better than playing an FPS on touchscreen. This one from Koiiko lets you clip your phone in place, essentially turning your very expensive device into a very expensive device that's clipped onto a controller.

A splitter

If that little gamer in your life likes to charge their phone while still playing, they could be in sore need of a little device that splits the charging port of any iPhone since the 7. They don't have headphone jacks, but by plugging one of these beauties in you can have your earbuds or whatever AND your charger both stuck in at the same time.
