Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Now Just 99c For A Limited Time

Square Enix's iPhone port of Xbox Live Arcade title Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is now on sale, meaning you can grab the co-operative adventure game for just 99c. Naturally, the game follows Tomb Raider protagonist Lara Croft - and her new partner Totec - as she attempts to nab a mysterious artefact called the Mirror of Smoke, and prevent the God of Darkness from controlling humanity. We gave Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light an impressive 4/5 at review and noted that it "goes the extra distance with a challenging campaign and a fun co-op style for friends to enjoy". Lara's adventure will return to $2.99 on November 14th, so we suggest you go and raid the App Store for it whil…

Review Updates: Kard Combat, Flip Riders, Muffin Knight and Dungeon Defenders

One of the wonderful things about the App Store is that it provides an opportunity for developers to refine their games as time goes on, often to the point of a game hardly resembling what was released in the first place. As such we've had a look at the following titles and we've given them the nudge they deserve as they remain relevant thanks to listening to their respective communities. (Some of the reviews are taking their sweet time to update correctly - they have been edited, please be patient!) Kard Combat (Hothead Games) One of the major weaknesses of Kard Combat when it was released was its lack of customization - something further exascerbated by only having a handful of mages to…

More Order & Chaos Online Accounts Have Been Hacked

You thought you could breathe a huge Order & Chaos Online sigh of relief, didn't you? Unfortunately not. After reporting on the first Gameloft Live security breach a few weeks ago, which involved hackers gaining access to Order & Chaos Online players' accounts, we told you we'd keep you updated on events relating to the French studio's iPhone MMORPG. And so we are. In spite of Gameloft's best attempts at plugging the Order & Chaos Online security holes, a raft of gamers - some of whom were affected in October, some of whom were not - have had their accounts hacked over the weekend. If that wasn't enough bad news for the Order & Chaos Online masses, reports are surfacing…

Super Stickman Golf Goes Free For 24 Hours On iPhone

Super Stickman Golf may have been put off its game slightly by a trademark troll earlier in the year, yet it remains a phenomenally enjoyable iPhone experience. This inventive trajectory-based puzzler from Noodlecake pitched up on AppSpy's green a little under a year ago and received full marks from Andrew on review. The effortlessly simple control method complements the cleverly designed levels rather nicely, while the online multiplayer mode is a genuine treat. So long as you have three mates who own the game, of course. Whether you're a Billy No-Mates of Mr Popular, mind, news that Super Stickman Golf is going free for a day should be music to your ears. 261 holes and Retina display…

Q&A With Massive Joe Studios

To promote the recent release of Age of Monsters - Rock Paper Scissors by Massive Joe Studios, one of the creative minds behind the project, Jeff Matsuda, recently jumped on social site Reddit to perform an AMA ('Ask Me Anything'). Not only was it a huge success from the viewpoint of Matsuda's fans as they got to request some amazing artwork, it provided a unique way to get the word out there about their iOS title. Not to miss a beat, AppSpy has managed to grab hold of Mike Su and Jeff Matsuda from Massive Joe Studios to ask them a few questions. Introductions Massive Joe is founded by Mike Su and Jeff Matsuda. Mike (me, speaking in third person) was previously VP of Games and VP of Produ…

Monochrome Puzzler Contre Jour Gets Updated With 20 New Levels

The term Contre Jour relates to a specific photography practice in which snapshots are taken with a light source behind the subject. Unsurprisingly, Chillingo's environmental puzzler also focusses on light, tasking you with navigating several monochromatic landscapes in search of its warm glow. Playing as a black blob named Petit, you must utilise tentacles, portals, slingshots, and a variety of other means to reach your goal, as you morph the landscape around your globule. Chillingo have added an all-new chapter - Moonlight - to their popular App Store puzzler, which introduces 20 new levels to explore. These supplement the 60 levels that have been present since the game's launch. Contr…

Strategy Title King of Dragon Pass Celebrates Birthday With New $5.99 Price Point

When it's our birthday, we like to celebrate with heaps of presents, piles of cards, enough booze to sink a small ship, and copious amounts of lovely cake. Developer A Sharp, on the other hand, is celebrating the 12th birthday of King of Dragon Pass by slashing its price, meaning you can now pick up the strategy title for the reduced cost of $5.99. If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's a complex menu-based title set in the fictional world of Glorantha, which challenges you to overcome an almost endless wave of random events. These include choosing whether to share valuable resources with nearby clans, or telling them to get lost - both of which affect later events. King of Dragon Pass…

Com2uS's Tower Defense: Lost Earth Updated With Additional Power-Ups

You may not necessarily be aware of this, but the term 'tower defense' is copyrighted. The copyright-holder is none other than Com2uS, who waited almost three years before actually cashing in on their lucrative TD trademark (serial number 3442002. Honestly.). Was it worth the wait for an 'official' tower defense on iPhone, then? Yes and no. Yes, because Tower Defense: Lost Earth is undeniably polished, full of game modes, and rewards high score seekers. No, because there's nothing really new or innovative about this particular tower defence experience. Still, we awarded it a handsome 4/5 on review, and we're stoked to see it updated by the developers with additional power-ups, includin…

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas Possibly Coming To iPhone

You know how we - and probably you - got all kinds of excited, breathless, and anxious at the news that Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition was being ported to iPhone? Get ready for a similar emotional onslaught. Digital Trend's Adam Rosenberg was lucky enough to be invited deep into Rockstar's New York lair earlier this week for a hands-on preview of said open-world crime adventure on iPhone and iPad. In between running down pedestrians and admiring the character modelling, Rosenberg coaxed a tantalising admission out of one of the Rockstar reps: And yes, since you're probably wondering: It would be a 'technical challenge' to deliver mobile ports of Vice City and San Andreas,…
