PROS
- Action oriented horizontal runner gameplay.
- Destructive and fun weapons to pick up.
- Plenty of achievements to conquer.
CONS
- A 'safe' release compared to Fruit Ninja.
VERDICT
Monster Dash walks the line between non-stop action and platforming in this runner title while featuring enough attention to detail to stand out from the crowd.

Vampires, Demons and Mummies, oh my! ... oh and Zombies. I guess that didn't work so well, but that's ok because unlike my silly intro Halfbrick studios have made the combination work in their latest outing on the App Store, 'Monster Dash'.
The new game is ostensibly another horizontal runner and it's only slightly disappointing after the success of Fruit Ninja to see the studio playing it so safe. With that said, this runner isn't quite your average fare, with various monsters providing dangerous obstacles to kill or avoid (along with the occasional bed of spikes). Weapon power-ups give your hunter a chance to dispatch more than a handful of monsters at a time, however the real stand-out is the jet-pack gatling gun that can propel you skyward while raining down death and providing a convenient way to correct bad jumps.
Monster Dash really shines in the details of the game, from each area being themed specifically for the monsters you're dealing with to the incredible amount of challenges for achievement junkies to conquer. The game's sprite and weapon art also bear some resemblance to the Metal Slug series, however everything is given a shrinky-dink feel which is quite cute to watch.
But all of this still doesn't change Monster Dash from feeling like a 'safe' title, but if it receives as much update attention as Fruit Ninja it could certainly become a dangerously addictive title. Until then, Monster Dash is still an amazingly fun title packed with 'I can't believe I did that!' moments, making it a title you just have to try.
