Today, Avid Games has launched a visual redesign for their multi-award-winning game: Cards, The Universe and Everything (CUE). After recently hitting one million downloads this redesign will be a launchpad for further updates to be released over the coming months.

CUE is a trading card game that allows players to battle anything against everything, and that is as wide as it sounds. Inspiration has been taken from a plethora of sources; Norse Mythology, sharks, planets, monkeys, inventors, scientists, rockets, Autherian legends and more. Who amongst us hasn’t debated the outcome of Thor the Norse god of thunder against a pigeon? We may wonder no longer.

Players are able to build their decks out of over 2000 cards in any combination of these weird categories and engage with each other in turn-based combat. As fun as it may be throwing out elephants and dragons left right and centre, CUE is a game where strategy is important. Certain cards work together with each other and result in combos when played, so decks must be built with thought to bring out the method in the madness.

New cards are released every day giving more opportunities to collect and build new decks based around each mythos. Duplicate cards can either be combined with each other to strengthen them, or can be used in recipes to make a new card. Players can also trade amongst themselves so there is always reason to hoard.

On top of the gameplay, CUE has been awarded the Education App of the Year award from the UK App Awards. Each card has trivia on various subjects, so as gamers collect and build their decks they will also be learning about a great many subjects, which is never a bad thing to whip out some new facts amongst friends.

Cards, The Universe and Everything is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play.
