Rocket League SideSwipe's second season is now live

By , on February 3, 2022

The first season of Rocket League SideSwipe, the mobile spin-off of the hugely popular Rocket League, has ended, with rewards being dished out to the most daring of drivers. Before despair sets in amongst the mobile vehicle flipper faithful, however, Season 2 has already launched and brought with it a few new features and a gameplay mode.

The 2v2 Basket Mode has been retired for now following the conclusion of Season 1 and has instead been replaced with a Volleyball mode. This mode does away with goals and baskets, and instead, the new mode is exactly what it sounds like. It is another 2v2 mode, except this time there is a net in the middle and players will need to keep the ball off the ground on their end whilst trying to spike it onto their opponent's side. Mix this with Rocket Leagues rather exuberant acrobatics and it won't be a surprise to see cars flying over the net more often than the ball. An announcement has been made confirming that these extra modes will rotate through future seasons, so players will need to take advantage of this mode whilst it's still around.

There is a new exhibition style mode introduced for those who would rather practise their most dizzying of dives called Casual Playlists. These will be quicker matches played against other real people that will not affect the season ranking, instead offering a less pressured playground-style approach for players to let loose and indulge in the mid-air mayhem that Rocket League is known for.

It has been confirmed that the obtainable items from Season 1 will also be up for grabs this season. Popular items like the Supernova or Duel Dragons gate explosion, and the Sunset 1986 wheels will still be available alongside new items being released in the future.

Rocket League Sideswipe Season 2 is available to download for free now on the App Store and Google Play.
