Kiyoshi Honda, the sole developer for Wonderland Kazkiri inc, has released a remaster of Dungeon and Gravestone. First released five years ago, the game's comeback has already amassed over 400,000 downloads within two days of release sat at number two on Japans “All Paid Games” ranking for both the App Store and Google Play. There is no unseating Minecraft though.

Dungeon and Gravestone wakes the protagonist from a deep sleep in a city with only one road, leading right into a dungeon where most of the action takes place. As soon as the dungeon is entered the characters blood level instantly starts to deplete with no way to stop it, slapping a timer and a palpable sense of urgency to proceedings. Couple this with the myriad of monsters that call the dungeon home and players will inevitably become fast friends with the floor.

As monsters are slain and floors are explored, players will gain experience points to level up and be rewarded with Level Points, which can in turn be exchanged for skills and stats boosts. The monsters will also drop weapons and armour, which when used extensively will also become stronger, so that wooden sword from the first floor will be cleaving enemies in no time. Those of an arcane disposition will also be able to make use of any books of magic found in the dungeons, however, these come at a cost of blood so discretion will be needed.

The game employs a somewhat roguelike aspect, with the action taking place in real-time as opposed to turn-based. Whenever the dungeon is successfully exited the whole layout changes for the next round of exploration, so the blood depletion mechanic will always be a thorn in the side.

Dungeon and Gravestone is available to download now on Google Play and the App Store at a cost of $4.99.
