Square Enix has announced the launch date of upcoming shooter Hitman Sniper The Shadows. Launching globally on 3rd March this year, players will be able to amass a team of snipers to venture out and stealthily snuff out various undersirables the world over.

The story takes place in a world where Agent 47, the most globally reognisable assassin there is, has gone missing. Taking adventage of the disappearance of the bullet wielding angel of death, a new criminal network has arisen, and are responsible for a string of violent attacks, crime and general other dastardly deeds. To combat Diana Burnwood, employee of the International Contract Ageny and handler for Agent 47, activates Initiative 426 aka The Shadows, and from here the fun begins.

As suggested by the title, the core gameplay takes place through the scope of a sniper. Perched far away and out of sight, the objective of the game is to remove the necessary threats as quietly and sneakily as possible. This can be accomplished as easily as a bullet to the head, but for those looking for a fancier way there are multiple other methods.

A tried and tested favourite of the Hitman community must be the old “accidental” death, because barrels spontaneously explode all the time, who would expect it? By stalking targets, they will eventually walk past a combustible object or a gaudy chandelier, which can be exploited for a very unfortunate demise.

For the calculating players, there is the opportunity to Lure enemies to various spots for a sneaky removal. By shooting various dumpsters and vans, enemies will be compelled to investigate the disturbance, as if any form of media has taught the world anything, an unfamiliar sound must immediately be investigated. When the target is at the desired location, a quick pull of the trigger will ensure they fall into said van or dumpster and be both disposed of and hidden from view. At least until bin day.

Playing as The Shadows, there are multiple agents that can be selected for each mission with their own skills and weapons. Stone has access to time proximity mines and wields the rather lethal looking Precision Global Mcax, so if loud and proud is the order of the day he is an easy pick. Whereas Kolzak is equipped with Contagion Rounds, so stealth and the slow, undetected kills are his forte. There is an agent to suit anyone's style.

Hitman Sniper The Shadows will launch 3rd March on App Store and Google Play, and for any eager agents out there, there is the option to pre-register now on the website or on Google Play. This comes with exclusive rewards and spots are limited so don’t miss out.
