Nexon Co Ltd has announced a limited-time event for their anime RPG Blue Archive. Yes indeed, it was only a matter of time until the game succumbed to that age-old anime trope, the beach episode.

Blue Archive places the player in the shoes of the new Federal Investigation Club advisor located in the sprawling city of Kivotos, which functions as a military academy for female students. The gameplay is mainly split into two groups; the battles and the life sim aspect.

The battles play out fairly autonomously. After selecting a group of four, they are sent onto the battlefield where they will automatically shoot at the enemy in all their chibi 3D sprite glory. Each character has a skill they can be manually triggered to affect the fight; AOE attacks, heals, and so on. On the other hand, the life sim aspect gives players the ability to bond with the characters and learn more about their individual stories.

The latest event, entitled “Summer Sky’s Wishlist”, takes the story to the beach for a nice summer getaway. This includes 14 new story episodes, 12 new quests and a further 3 challenge stages. Alongside this, players who log in during the event will receive 1,200 of the in-game currency, with those who pre-registered getting double the reward.

Also released for this event are three new characters; Azusa (Swimsuit), Mashiro (Swinsuit) and Tsurugi (Swinsuit), with each of them described as having lethal skills. Azusa and Mashiro get a single target attack skill to deal massive damage, and Tsurugis' new skill increases her basic attack damage for a set time.

Throughout the event, players can collect special currency to exchange for exclusive items, such as the new Tsurugi characters, beach-themed furniture items and items for character enhancement. There are also daily and achievement tasks to complete which rewards the event currencies, or other in-game goodies like a Summer Concept Photo Board to decorate the city's cafe.

Blue Archive is available to download now on Google Play and the App Store.
