Gungho Online Entertainment America has announced the conclusion to the latest saga of their digital collectable card game Teppen. The story arc, entitled War of the Goddess, has been told over a trilogy and will end in this latest entry.

This latest story instalment is called “Defying the Light”, which certainly is a name that conjures up a thrilling image of punching a goddess in the face. This will close out the story that started in November 2021, and will show the heroes, dubbed the Resistance, confronting the Goddess character to thwart their plans to take over the world.

Developed in conjunction with Capcom, Teppen is a card game that has a neat twist to it, in which the battles play out mostly in real-time as opposed to turn-based. Players start with 4 MP each and can summon any cards as soon as they have the necessary number of points. When an action card, which includes summoning a monster, is used the game enters “Active Response”, which allows the opponent a chance to summon in response. Beyond that, games are a constant stream of flashy attacks and magic to enjoy.

Decks are constructed around a hero from the Capcom universe, with iconic characters like Ryu and Dante showing up to duke it out with cards. Each of these characters has its own “Hero Arts” which can be used in battle. For example, X from Mega Man can heal friendly units and boost their attack strength. Finally the age-old question of “who would win in a fight between Resident Evils Albert Wesker and the Felyne from Monster Hunter” can be put to bed. Spoilers, probably Wesker.

As of the release of this expansion, Teppen is rotating out the “A Dark Agenda” card set from play to make way for a new set of cards. These will no longer be usable in the standard gameplay modes.

Teppen is available to download now on Google Play and the App Store.
