Smoking Gun Interactive has announced the launch of its new strategy title Phobies on mobile devices and PC. Being worked on by some of the creative talents behind the 2006 award-winning Company of Heroes, there is a lot of pedigree behind this dark delve into humans' darkest fears.

Described as a mash-up of hex-based strategy, card collecting and PvP action, players amass and battle creatures based on real phobias. With over 120 monster cards to collect and build into a deck there will be characters to chill the bones of any player. From creepy clowns to mechanical monkeys, and also sentient cupcakes, no one will be safe. Beware the terrifying frosting.

Functioning as a card game, decks are built around these creatures called Phobies. Once the dastardly deck have been built, players face off against their appointments in turn-based combat in hex-based arenas, giving a wide array of freedom for movement. Each Phobie has its own unique attacks and abilities that can be upgraded and unleashed upon enemies in deadly and strategic ways. For example, the Sheeping Gas Phobie can produce a cloud of toxic gas to deal AOE damage, whereas the Grave Digger is capable of altering the battlefield by destroying obstacles.

Each battle occurs in a variety of environments and layouts, but each poses its own challenge to conquer in order to effectively win the fight. Panic Points on the maps are vital to be captured, as each will deal direct damage to an opponent's heart HP at the beginning of every turn. There are multiple modes to choose from that control the flow of battles, such as real-time games in the Arena Battle Mode, or a more spaced out affair through Async Battle Mode. Whatever is chosen, the aim of the game remains the same; destroy all the enemies Phobies, or take their heart's HP to zero.

Phobies is available to download now on Google Play and the App Store.
