Erabit Studios, in conjunction with Ace Entertainment, has announced the upcoming release of Candy Disaster in North America. Originally released on Steam in late 2021 and currently rated “Very Positive”, the port will look to hopefully condense all the madness into handheld form.

Players take on the role of Jick, the mad scientist, which is a title more playable characters should have. Jick has been tasked by their mysterious friend to go out and collect the M89KD Energy Candies that have been scattered across different planets. In doing so, Jick comes into contact with aggrieved enemies who also want the candies and must use various tricks and traps to keep the candies out of harm's reach.

Gameplay takes the form of a 3D tower defense with quite a few interesting twists. For starters, enemies don’t all follow the same path to the goal point, they will all take random directions which is quite a cool difference than everyone seeing the path lined with turrets and going “yep that's definitely the way to go”. To compensate for this randomness, players are able to pause the game and move their traps at any time so there is no worry about stretching defenses too much.

The traps themselves can be utilised in quite a few fun little ways. To start off, the environment is your friend. Rivers on some maps can be used to dispose of enemies by strategically placing a push trap to knock enemies into them. Traps can also be combined for maximum damage; a wooden arrow can become a flaming arrow by passing through fire, or bullets can be directed around the map with the use of fans. There are many more combinations that can be discovered to make players truly feel like the mad scientist we all long to be.

Candy Disaster is available to pre-order now on Google Play, the App Store and Taptap.
