Playdigious has revealed the release date for Dead Cells' new mobile DLC, The Queen and The Sea. Releasing April 7th, this new adventure takes Dead Cells and adds a nautical spin, taking the action away from the island and castle, and to the salt-stained air of the seven seas.

Acting as an alternate late-game route, Queen and the Sea takes the action out of the rock walls of the Castle and the rancid atmosphere of the Distillery and follows the Prisoner trying to escape the island instead. Channelling their inner Long John Silver, players will visit new biomes, fighting their way through the hallways of a rotten shipwreck and scaling a burning lighthouse, which is admittedly less piratey.

Along with these new areas comes frightening new enemies determined to stop the erstwhile hero. The Queen’s Guardians are fearsome and formidable enough foes to grapple with as the escape goes on, but compared to their boss they are mere minnows. To prepare for these new dangers, players can equip new sea-themed weapons, wielding a hook hand or a trident. For those more meddlesome foes, however, there is always the option to just throw a whole shark at them, a joyous sentence that cannot be oversold enough. Alongside these new weapons, and the shark is the introduction of a new pet, new outfits including an eyepatch and more. But mainly the projectile shark.

Outside this new DLC, Dead Cells will also receive a lot of new content free of charge for all owners of the game on the same day. The introduction of the Training Room will give the option to hone skills before the inevitable death onslaught takes place. Also, good news for cosplay enthusiasts, a plethora of weapons and outfits from other indie games are up for grabs, hailing from such games as Hollow Knight, Guacamelee and Blasphemous.

Dead Cells Queen and the Sea will be available in-game, which is available on Google Play and the App Store for $3.99.
