Ditix Games has opened up pre-registration and early access for its upcoming strategy game, Kayko and Kokosh: Build and Rule. Based on the cult comics by Janusz Christa, players will take control of the fallen village of Mirmilowo and build it back to its former glory.
Mirmilowo was once a standard village being run by the fairly unreliable castellan Mirmil and had to deal with constant aggression from a bandit group run by Bloody Hegemon. After weathering countless attacks, the villagers were saved by two heroes, Kayko and Kokosh, who taught the villagers how to fend off the bandits. After this, Mirmilowo flourished and the inhabitants enjoyed peaceful lives, right up until they were devastated by a fearsome plague of chickens. This poultry-based disaster sent leader Mirmil off the deep end, and he decided to take a vacation, which is where the player steps in to take over.
It is up to the new leader to rebuild the village, to complete quests and to restore Mirmilowo back to their former glory, whilst all the while beating back Hegemon and his bandits, who have returned to torment the broken village. Players will need to gather resources and use them to rebuild each of the ruined buildings. This will allow the village to grow and draw in new inhabitants who bring with them new quests to undertake. There are multiple paths that can be taken to succeed, such as focusing on building up a mining dynasty or sending out warriors on the next big expedition. How the game is played determines the course it takes.
When the running of the village gets too stressful there are a number of relaxing minigames to slow down with and enjoy, each based on the adventures of Kakyo and Kokosh from the comic books. It is not necessary to be familiar with the existing world, however, as the game will serve as an excellent introduction to two of Poland's most popular literary warriors.
Kayko and Kokosh: Build and Rule is available to pre-register for now on Google Play. Those eager players can also download a test game for free here, which offers a taste of the single-player mode, core gameplay features, a few minigames and tutorial quests.
