It is time to return to Yan, as Arknights launches its 3.5-anniversary update. Doctors will dig deeper into the secrets of Sui, and all players will be able to reap a bevvy of rewards to celebrate three and a half years of uptime.

The quite fancily titled Where Vernal Winds Will Never Blow centres on the story of Chongyue, the brother of Nian, Dusk, and Ling, who has been guarding Yumen for centuries. Doctors will follow Congyue as he seeks to find a master for the sword he left behind. In the meantime, enemies are circling Yumen, and conflict seems destined.

As you defend Yumen, you will be able to place operators on a strange new mechanism. When deployed on this, your characters will gain an advantage from holding the high ground against their enemies, dealing more damage. You aren’t untouchable, however, as enemies will clamber to the top, or bombard them with fire to force a retreat, so tactical use is required.

Chongyue debuts as a 6-star Fighter, being able to clock up damage multipliers, and amplify his own damage, being able to deal catastrophic damage when combined. Place him and the new mechanisms, and wreck havoc. To guard your new attacker, the 6-star Phalanx, Lin can deploy crystal barriers to block all damage, which will shatter to stun and deal Arts Damage after being damaged enough.

For any of you pyromaniacs out there, the 5-star Fortress Firewhistle will ignite the tile her target is on with her attacks, dealing Arts Damage to those inside. Finally, everyone can claim the 5-star Artillerman Jieyun, a chakram wielder who can deal Physical damage every second to all nearby enemies and reduce their movement speed.

If you log in now, you will be able to claim a 10-roll headhunting permit plus 14 daily log-in pulls, with a higher chance of obtaining new operators. The Lungmen Lucky Strips event will earn you Orundum, and by clearing event stages you can net yourself Jieyun, the Yumen Clinic Furniture set, and more headhunting permits.

Arknights can be downloaded now from the App Store and Google Play.
