For those of you who put the newest iPhone on your Christmas list, it may be a few days till you can unwrap it, but the perfect candidate for your first game is here as Resident Evil 4 finally releases on Apple devices. Rush through those pesky familial obligations, then shut yourself in a dark room with Leon and co for the perfect holiday.

Resident Evil 4’s move from the classic survival horror tastes of the first three entries to a more action-based system was a divisive one, however, the result was one of the best games of its generation. You may get some die-hards who long for dogs diving through windows and awful fixed camera angles, but you don’t win multiple GOTY awards for nothing.

A whole new generation of gamers can now enjoy the masterpiece, as it arrives on the latest iPhone, or at least the 15 Pro and above, or any iPad with an M-series chip if you want a slightly cheaper option. If you are an aspiring orchard owner and own multiple Apple products, then you will be delighted to hear Resident Evil 4 supports Universal Purchase. Buy it once, and it is yours to download on any device. There is also cross-progression, otherwise, what would be the point?

If you are on the fence about buying this, you are wrong, buy it. But if you insist, you can enjoy a free demo before you make a full purchase, which until January 17th is 50% off at $29.99. For a little bit more encouragement, buy it in the sale and you will get a host of in-game rewards too such as Attaché Case: Gold, Special Charm: Green Herb, and Special Charm: Handgun Ammo, all of which offer unique abilities when equipped.

You can download Resident Evil 4 from the App Store right now, which is terrible personal news, as I can no longer fanboy over the release in these articles. A worthwhile sacrifice.
