'Tapping' into Christmas

By , on December 17, 2009

With the holidays growing closer, we are beginning to see some games in the App Store putting on a Christmas visard, just in time for that period of excessive spending which is December. We're also seeing some original Christmas releases, and offcourse, a waste basket full of puzzle games and quizzes.

Giving Christmas a comical, and quite bloody angle, is Trigger Happy Christmas by Games Faction, the guys who created Ink Invaders. We'd always been weary of those little Elf's, and now, you can help Santa slaughter all of them! The game is full of comical animation, and a setting which looks like a cross between a gingerbread village and South Park. Another addition to this Slaughterhouse Christmas niche is Bigitecs' upcoming Zombie-Elf cross over Zombie Assault: Xmas which looks to be a Plants vs Zombies style replica of their previous release Zombie Assault but, look, the Zombies are wearing Santa hats...and it's snowing!

We then see some more alternate versions and winter updates; Snow Brawlin'  from Ghost Hand Games is a free App which brings Risoo the squirrel back from his previous game Nut Chuckin' The Game itself looks quite self explanatory. Then there is another update for that little game which has satisfied our need to torment small islanders: Pocket God from Bolt Creative. Not only can we down, burn, and impale those little Pygmy's, you can now also feed them to a colossal ice monster, happy times.

Finally, we have those puzzle, quiz and toddler App's which seem to be piling up in the App Store. These games are a nice safe, 'Christian' alternative. Games such as Santa's Christmas Word Search, Jam Packed Christmas, Hand Drawn Advent Calendar, Xmas Ball Buster, and Toddler Christmas. You can check them out at Promo Dispenser.

Oh by the way, next time you play Doodle Jump, may I recommend 'snow' as a rather festive player name.
