Punching people in the face is a terrible pastime, frowned upon by all. Unless you do it in a video game that is, in which case you'll probably be heralded as a hero by a bunch of digital people.

That's certainly the case in Trigger City, a game which takes its cues from the past and wears its retro credentials proudly on its rolled up sleeves.

Out on the App Store now, the game sees you taking to the streets of the titular city to dish out steaming hot bowls of violent justice.

With simple controls, plenty of combos and special moves to master, and 16 levels of side scrolling scrapping to work your way through there's a lot to like about Trigger City.

Throw in some motorbike levels and 5 different gangs to kick, punch, shoot, and main your way through and you're left with a retro package that's not afraid to get its chunky hands dirty.

The game is available from the App Store right now for 99c, but feel free to check out the gameplay trailer below.
