Can Gameloft's GT Racing 2 deliver 'the real car experience'?

2013 is the year of the mobile racing sim. We've had EA and FireMonkey's freemium hit Real Racing 3. We've also taken rival mobile racer 2K Drive for spin.

Now, Gameloft is throwing its oil stained hat into the ring with another freemium rev-fest: GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience.

With a title like that, you'd be forgiven for thinking that GT Racing 2 was all about taking the kids to school, getting stuck in traffic, and breaking down on the M27.

Of course, what the game actually offers is yet another chance to hop into a licensed supercar and belt around Laguna Seca.

You'll have no shortage of events to work through - over 1,400 according to Gameloft - during which you'll gain access to 13 tracks and 67 vehicles.

There's also a plethora of customisation options for gear-heads to obsess over, including four different camera angles, a new physics engine, and the ability to tune your engine.

We'll be going hands-on with this one very soon. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer above for a sneak peek, or download the game for free from the App Store.
