VERDICT

Nano Rally is an addictive small scale racer that may take some time to get used to, but once you do, it’s a lot of fun.

Nano Rally is a racing game where players take control of a miniature racecar and race around a number of tracks and areas around a house. Players must navigate, adjust car specs and race through in the quickest time possible. The track scores are all added up to a grand total, your goal is to complete all the tracks while slowly grinding down your overall race time.

You control your car by using the buttons in the lower part of the screen. Gas, brakes and steering are all controlled by tapping the appropriate button. Players also have the option to use the iPhone’s tilt capabilities to steer, and can adjust the sensitivity to a preferred setting. The controls work well, but you need to find a scheme that works just right for you.

The graphics are well done and navigating between cutlery, fruit and other household items. The sound is good, but while there is no game music, players can use their iPod instead with no loss of sound effects. There is one main single player game mode, but players can submit times and highscores to a global leaderboard.

Nano Rally is a fun little game that takes some time to master. The quirky level design and great camera controls make for some really exciting gameplay, while the total highscore system will have you coming back and repeating levels for the next best score. This is a must have game if you enjoyed games like Micro Machines or Hot Wheels.
