Boom Brigade is an eclectic mix of tower defence, top down shooter and line drawing games all rolled into one. Your goal is to protect your bunker from attacking aliens by commanding units to move around the battlefield and attacking them. You will also need to collect as much dropped cash as you can in order to save up enough money to upgrade your units.

Unit movement is controlled by tapping and dragging the iPhone screen to select and draw a path for them. Your units will fire automatically and only require you to keep them moving so they can avoid enemy attacks and try to flank aliens for a better chance of victory. Players will also need to collect the three bonuses that aliens drop on the field: a health refill, cash bonus and an additional unit token.

The visuals are very smooth and look great; especially the ever growing terrain damage. The sound is decent but there is no in game music or option to use your iPod during gameplay. The game is single player only, featuring one main game mode with no online leaderboard options.

Boom Brigade is a strong game that will appeal to fans of the three genres it mixes. While it’s unfortunate to see there are no continue or leaderboard options offered to players, hopefully these issues will be addressed soon. Boom Brigade is a hectic and enjoyable title that will grab your attention from the start and keep you coming back for more.
