Mr.Jelly
Download on the AppStore
3 out of 5

PROS

  • The game’s controls are simple and easy to use.
  • Players have access to their iPod during gameplay.
  • Players can continue their game from the last completed level after game over.

CONS

  • There are no online leaderboard options available for the game.
  • Only 16 levels to play through; so the game’s a bit on the short side.

VERDICT

Mr. Jelly is quite enjoyable despite having a short play life, but if you enjoy games with similar mechanics to Spikey’s Bounce Around then you might want to try this game.

Mr. Jelly is a puzzle game where you play as a squishy alien in love; awww. One day when walking on his planet with the lovely Miss Jelly, she opens a mysterious box and disappears. Now it’s up to you to find and rescue her by travelling through a number of different levels.

Mr. Jelly uses his elastic body to catapult himself around grabbing onto different ledges and collecting love hearts along the way. Players do this by tapping on Mr. Jelly and dragging him back to bring up a small flight path that he will take when you let go. You’ll need to navigate each level effectively in order to progress and to have any hopes of finding your missus.

The visuals are quite good and motions are very fluid. The sound is also well done and players have the option to use their iPod during gameplay. There’s only one main mode to play through but after a game over, players can start their game from the last cleared level.

Mr. Jelly is an odd little title that fans of Spikey’s Bounce Around might enjoy. The controls make the game easy to play and the increasingly difficult levels will certainly give players a challenge. There are no leaderboard options available but as the game follows a story mode, even the regular highscore option seems like an unnecessary, but welcomed, inclusion. Overall however, the game is a lot of fun and will keep you entertained for a while to come.
