Jumboo is an arcade jumping game where players take control of a large silverback gorilla who must jump up as high as possible using a number of platforms. The higher you jump, the faster the levels will scroll after you. If you fall off one of the platforms, or the bottom of the level scrolls up to you then you’ll end the game.

Players control their gorilla by sliding their finger across the screen to control direction, and jump by tapping the screen. You’ll need to use both to effectively climb, or more accurately, jump your way higher and higher into the jungle canopy. The controls work but you’ll probably wish for a more suited scheme at some point; possibly a tilt or button controlled scheme.

The game’s visuals are solid, if not a little basic, but the level designs change every 50 platforms to keep things interesting. The sound features a bouncy jungle soundtrack but players are free to use their iPod during gameplay as an alternative. The game only features one main mode but there are online leaderboard options available for the more competitive players.

Jumboo is a simple arcade platformer that fans of games like Doodle Jump may enjoy. The iPod integration and online leaderboards give players more options and while it does lack power-ups and other collectables, the gameplay is still enjoyable. This is a decent choice if you’re an old-school platforming fan or you’re just looking for something to kill some time with.
