Rolando 2 picks up where the first game left off. Your Rolandos have sailed back from their adventures and accidentally brought a strange sickness back with them. They must now find the Golden Orchid to cure the sickness. The gameplay itself relies on rolling through levels, solving puzzles and other physics based challenges in order to get closer to finding the Golden Orchid.

The game controls are simple, you tilt the screen to roll and flick up in order to jump. There are times during levels, where you will also need to lift, tap or spin level items using your finger to progress. There are also gravity based missions where you tilt the world in order to find the exit, you do this by rotating your iPhone the full 360 degrees.

The visuals look amazing; besides the bright 2D display, fully 3D elements are also mixed in to make the gameplay look great. The sound is vibrant and fun, and boasts a soundtrack by well known DJ, Mr. Scruff. This is a single player game, but players are able to post level highscores online to leaderboards and post your progress and check your friend’s progress on Facebook.

Rolando 2: The Quest for the Golden Orchid is a game that will appeal to anyone who enjoys original gameplay, fun puzzle solving and simple, inventive controls. While some people may be deterred from the child like, overly-happy style, others will find it a welcomed change. The bubbly and happy visuals make the game a great casual play, and one that will put a smile on your face.
