Inspired by games like Super Stardust HD on the PS3, Crash Course by DFC Games is a frantic twin-stick shooter that'll blow you away with its detailed special effects and fast-paced gameplay.

Like most twin-stick games, the left stick controls your movement while the right stick fires your weapons. Various buttons on the interface allow you to trigger super-bombs, change weapons or activate a boost mode that provides temporary invincibility for plowing your way out of traps. The game is automatically paused if you take both fingers off the screen, preventing pointless frustrating deaths, but this can be turned off if needed.

The game's difficulty ranges from casual, which provides a relaxed 'blow everything up' mode to an unlockable Hard mode that's truly brutal to try. The visuals are simply amazing at their highest levels, but for those with older iDevices they can be turned down for smoother gameplay. Each planet at full detail is extremely detailed, with full-screen glow effects giving the game a high-end professional look. Anaglyphic 3D is available, but can put a serious dent on the game's framerate.

The gameplay can get mindless at times, but moments like being trapped in a ring of death or having random barricades thrown in to your path will keep things exciting no matter how you choose to play the game. Be it a simple play around in the Casual mode to blow off steam or another round of the game's fast-paced Arcade mode, Crash Course is a feast for the senses that will keep gamers of any level busy.
