The top 8 Japanese RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile

JRPGs make up a huge selection of my fondest gaming memories and I know I'm not the only one. From their diverse cast of characters, intense battle sections, and ridiculous plots, it's hard not to fall in love with the genre once you've played your first.

A lot of JRPGs have already made the jump onto iOS and Android but I'll never be satisfied until they're all on there. Hence this list, which is essentially a wishlist of AppSpy's top 8 Japanese RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile.

1. Tales of Symphonia - My favourite game of all time, Tales of Symphonia has got it all. An addictive and emotionally charged plot, the best characters of any JRPG ever, an action-packed battle system, and a truly interesting double-world to exploreand you've got everything that you need to make a perfect JRPG - which it is.

2. Final Fantasy VII - Often considered the greatest JRPG of all time, who doesn't want Final Fantasy VII to come to mobile? Considering all previous games are already on the App Store, It's a safe bet that this will make the leap at some point.

3. Grandia - Another classic from the PS1 era, it would be great to see Grandia get a HD remake with added voice acting for mobile. Who wouldn't want that?

4. Baten Kaitos - Only a handful of people ever played this which is a shame because Baten Kaitos was completely unique and sits comfortably as my second favourite JRPG of all time. The card based battle system would be ideal for touchscreens. Make it happen, Bandai Namco.

5. Suikoden II - There's a bit of a trend here, isn't there? It would appear that the best JRPGs arrived during the PS1 era and Suikoden II is no exception. It remains the best game in the series and it's frankly baffling that it isn't already out on mobile.

6. Ni no Kuni - This is an interesting entry. It was made in collaboration with the masters of anime, Studio Ghibli, and Level-5, who know how to make a good JRPG. Considering that it originally launched on DS, it wouldn't be that difficult to port over to mobile.

7. Skies of Arcadia - Fans of Skies of Arcadia have been calling out for a port / HD remake / sequel since it first launched on the Dreamcast. It did eventually make it onto GameCube as Skies of Arcadia Legends but it appears to have been forgotten by SEGA since. For shame!

8. Kingdom Hearts - The lure of Kingdom Hearts is just too much for most people. It marries the sentimentality that you already feel for the JRPG genre with Disney characters. What more could you ask for, seriously? Well, an iOS port would be nice.
