The maker of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Brink unveils Tempo, a brand new game on iOS

If the official trailer from Splash Damage is anything to go by, Tempo looks set to be the Michael Bay movie that iOS gamers didn't realise they needed. From the minds behind Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Brink, this sneak peek starts strong with some suited chump asking for a ridiculous one trillion pounds, or else he'll blow up the entirety of London. Cue cover based shooting, reflex-driven martial arts, and all the explosions a Mr. Bay uber fan might need. Tempo will come to iOS in January. We'll keep you updated when we hear more.…

The top 5 gamebooks like 80 Days on Android

80 Days has flown around the world on iOS and has finally made its final stop on Android. You'll know that much already because you'll be playing it as I speak, I'm sure. It's an absolutely astounding game with one problem: it ends. So what we've come up with is a list of alternatives on Android to help you fend off that cold turkey feeling. 1. Banner Saga Banner Saga isn't strictly a gamebook but definitely takes influence from them during the more talky-bits and for that reason it has to make this cut. As far as I'm converned, any reason to promote Banner Saga is a good one. 2. Joe Dever's Lone Wolf This one most certainly is a gamebook and is mighty proud of tha…

80 Days has been updated with a new Arctic route just in time for its Android release

As we mentioned previously, 80 Days has finally landed on Android but that's not the only piece of 80 Days-themed good news - inkle has only gone and provided us with a new update as well. This one is themed on the Arctic tundra and will allow Passepartout and co. to explore the very northern reaches of our planet on their journey around the world. Apparently over 30,000 new words have been added as well. That's a lot of words. Not got the game yet? You fool! Correct your mistake via the links below. [App Store link] [Google Play link]…

Top 4 iOS games coming to Android this week

The Gods are favouring us this week, Android fans, as a lot of hit iOS titles are making the difficult trek over to Android in time for Christmas. Still no news of an Oceanhorn port, though - for shame! We've got a bit handsy with a few of these titles in the past, so you'll most likely be hearing the well-toned voices and reasoned critical opinions of the AppSpy team instead of some trailer acting all official-like.  1. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Hearthstone has bossed the App Store in terms of card-based battling, though it has got a serious competitor in Magic: The Gathering. Shame we've had to wait so long - around eight months in fact - but better l…

Console and PC RPG Lords of the Fallen to be released on mobile in 2015

We're not exactly sure how CI Games is planning on cramming this ultra-gorgeous RPG onto your iOS and Android devices next year, but that's exactly what the studio has announced. Lords of the Fallen was a launch title for Xbox One and PS4, and looked impressive even by those standards. Still, who are we to complain? Another epic RPG on the App Store or Google Play definitely wouldn't hurt.…

Top 5 Temple Run alternatives on Android

Temple Run is still the undisputed champion of auto-runners no matter what mobile platform you're on. Unfortunately, due to its success, a lot of awesome alternatives get completely looked over - especially on Android, where the market is flooded with cheap and tacky alternatives. Not to worry, AppSpies - we're here to help. We've played a whole bunch of them and seperated the wheat from the chaff to bring you this epic list of Temple Run alternatives on Android.  1. Run Forrest Run Who doesn't want to play an auto-runner based on Forrest Gump? This one is more like a cartoon version, with colourful graphics, larger than life versions of the characters, and events that just…

Now you can flip your bike over in abject frustration with friends in Trials Frontier's PvP update

Mobiles are an entirely social tool. You're constantly receiving calls, texts, messenger messages, and a whole host of other irritating pop-ups that cover your beautiful wallpaper. So why, then, don't more mobile games contain PvP so we can play against our friends? Well, Ubisoft have got the message and have updated the, quite frankly, awesome Trials Frontier with a new PvP mode that allows you to do just that. Check out the trailer below for a look at the new mode in action.…

The top 5 best seeds for Minecraft - Pocket Edition's latest update

Minecraft - Pocket Edition was crowned the top selling iPhone and iPad game in this year's iTunes Best of 2014 chart, So, it stands to reason that most of you iOS users will have played the blocky sensation at some point. It is regularly top of the best-selling game section on Google Play as well, so Androiders should also be well-versed in its ways by now. Anyway, onto these seeds. For those who don't know, they're essentially codes that you input into the level generator to enter a pre-built world. All of the old seeds are now unplayable thanks to the latest update, so we've gone ahead and picked five of the best ones we've found so far. 1. super pig You arrive in front of a…

Marvel fans, we know you'll be too busy playing Contest of Champions to read this. Everyone else - get to the App Store right now. It sees you gathering a team of popular heroes and villains to complete quests, level up, and, ultimately, beat up Kang the Conqueror - a mysterious new super villain. We got all handsy with it recently, so if you're unsure about heading over to the App Store [download] right away, why not watch this video first? Can't hurt, can it? Exactly.…

AppSpy's top 6 games to make you rage

Nitrome's Roller Polar is this week's incredibly addictive festive treat - but it isn't half frustrating. It essentially does what Flappy Bird did so infamously last year, but improves on the visuals and sound and even throws some mechanics into the work for good measure. Just for you lovely folks, I've braved the App Store and Google Play store to find the most frustrating, rage-inducing games. Have a stressball at the ready if you plan on playing any of these, as we will not be responsible for the broken furniture. You have been warned. 1. Swing Copters  Combine an incredibly frustrating concept with imprecise and, well, rubbish controls and you get S…

This year's winners in particular were relatively predictable, with only the most impressive and popular releases taking home the plaudits. Rather than having you sit and stare at boring words all day, we figured it would be best to compile a list of fun videos and trailers of the best-selling apps and games on this year's list. Enjoy, AppSpies! 1. Top selling iPhone and iPad game: Minecraft: Pocket Edition Possibly the least surprising winner on the list, Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold much better than hot cakes since its launch back i…

Drop Assault is soon set to land on an iOS and Android device near you

Games Workshop has collaborated with Complex Games Inc. to release a mobile game set in Warhammer 40,000's Horus Heresy story. The result is Drop Assault, coming soon to iOS and Android. Drop Assault is a free-to-play tactical strategy game that promises to be a little pacier than traditional games in the genre. Set in the post-apocalyptic land of Isstvan III, you'll be choosing to join forces with either the Loyalists or the traitorous Horus. All of which probably won't mean much to someone who hasn't heard of Horus Heresy before. Everyone will be able to understand the multiplayer Skirmish mode, however, which pits you against one of your friends (or an enemy or stranger) to s…

Tiny Realms gets yet another sizeably satisfying update

You know those pretty awesome Bastion troops TinyMob added to Tiny Realms not so long ago? Well, you can now give them one of three specific orders to ensure they're doing their awesome thing exactly as you want them to. This is as part of a new update just released that also includes realm building reminders (messages appearing above buildings with helpful reminders) and updated faction unit traits.  For a much, MUCH more in-depth look at the most recent update, why not watch this amusing video created by the devs themselves: Talkin' Tiny Episode VII: The Tiny Awakens. Now, if I can just remember which topical film franchise they got that title from...…
